The lessons relate to a variety of real-life occupations, from computer game designer to forest firefighter, event planner and house painter. While developed by academics in Canada, these math lessons provide comparable skills training for students grades 7-9. Web Sites and Resources for Teachers is an incredible, well-visited and frequently updated site with a huge number of links for math lessons and math-based sites featuring ideas & activities, applications, board games, puzzles & problems, organizations, and lesson plans. While the site is no longer being maintained, it's still a veritable treasure trove for teachers. The Ohio Learning-Work Connection links people with the knowledge to build an effective youth system. Through technology and expert consultation, OLWC delivers key information and practices to prepare all youth for success in school, career, and community. Linking school work to careers and giving students a concrete reason to study is an important element of the success of Ohio Math Works.
